From Adam

Dear Reader,

From wherever you reside, welcome and thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Consider this introduction our first unofficial connection as friends, co-workers, professionals, collaborators, etc. I look forward to further conversations with you!

Now, I honestly struggle finding the words to adequately express and describe myself. I could simply tell you about my accolades, accomplishments, or where I come from, but how much does that ultimately tell you about me? We are so much more than what we do and it’s quite complicated to understand another person unless we take time to truly get to know them.

So, from me, here’s a start.

As maybe you already known or have guessed by perusing my website, I am an actor, teaching artist, and educator by trade, with over a decade of experience. I received my MFA in musical theatre vocal pedagogy from Boston Conservatory at Berklee and currently teach musical theatre voice at Viterbo University. I specialize in developing the artist’s voice to meet the wide range of expectations in musical theatre with focus on both style and function. I help connect the efficiency of every day noise making into vocal technique as well as movement into embodied artistry.

Ask me about it. But fair warming, I may talk forever.

I love crafting opportunity for people to tell their stories. You’ll notice my approach to teaching integrates accessible, systematic, and holistic practices while maintaining strong pillars of flexibility, freedom, and fun. I help artists uncover vocal potential and grow in understanding and connection of their voice.

However, I remain curious not only with what we do to build these connections, but how we do it. My interests stretch beyond the act of teaching. I also study the science and art of education.

I am currently researching and developing a model for voice teachers to establish more accessible and inclusive teaching practices and spaces. My main area of focus is in navigating student support needs in the voice studio. This model is known as Universal Design for Voice Teaching (UDVT). It is a diversity-affirming, inclusive, and accessibility-based teaching framework.

I would love to share it with you! If you’re interested in keeping up to date on the most recent UDVT content, please send me a message on my Contact Page and I will be sure to add you to the email list.

More of my accolades, accomplishments, and experiences can be found in both my Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Performance Resume. So if you wish to continue perusing these credentials, I have provided links below and highly encourage you to check them out!

But for now let me take a brief moment to explain with a little more detail what shapes my purpose in work and life. In other words, the reason I do what I do, how I do it, and why I do it.

It all stems from my values.

As an educator and artist, I work to empower others towards greater success. I see students, professionals, colleagues, supervisors, and everyone in between as collaborators. I lead from core values of compassion, understanding, humility, and belonging while also believing in the importance of giving utmost attention to other’s wants and needs. After all, it would be impossible for these values to exist in a bubble. In fact, they are only brought to fruition in and through connection. We need each other to thrive. It’s then, and only then, that we experience more potential and power. Greater possibilities are finally given an opportunity to be explored when done in collaboration.

With compassion we hear one another.

With understanding we see each other.

With humility we grow together.

And with belonging we thrive.

So, if that sounds like something you’re up for, let’s connect and start creating opportunities that uncover extraordinary possibilities in you and around the world! Head on over to my Contact page and send me a message introducing yourself. Ask any questions you would like.

I look forward to hearing from you.
